We know that Apple has been trying to move its factories out of China for some time. The company, which wants to deal with other South Asian countries, especially India, may break new ground with the iPhone 17. A famous analyst said that the iPhone 17 will be the first model not produced in China.

Apple is closing factories with iPhone 17 in China

Apple is reportedly preparing for a major shift in its manufacturing strategy over the next few years. Accordingly, iPhone 17 will adopt India as its main production center for the first time instead of China. This will also reduce the company’s dependence on China.

Renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo stated that Apple is accelerating its work before the 2025 launch. The company, which wants to start iPhone production in India from 2024, will gradually exit China. For the first time, Apple will have switched to a new iPhone production outside of China.

Alarm bells for Huawei: Chinese users prefer Apple!

Winning announcement came from Apple. Despite Huawei getting stronger and returning to the market, Apple maintains its leadership in its home country of China.

Kuo still thinks Apple will adopt China for the Pro models. The iPhone 17 and 17 Plus, which have relatively lower specifications and design only, could be produced in India. The purpose of this is to reduce the risks that may occur in production in India.

On the other hand, India’s share in iPhone production is expected to increase significantly in the coming years. According to Kuo’s estimates, iPhone shipments from India will account for 12 percent of total production in 2023. In 2024, it will reach 25 percent.

In contrast, the share of Foxconn, Apple’s main manufacturing partner in China, will decline. Volumes at iPhone production facilities are expected to drop by half in 2024.
